Meet Andrew
A Voice for the Growing Community of West Homewood
Born in Starkville, Mississippi, Andrew grew up in a single parent home as the oldest of 3 children. His family relocated at the end of elementary school, moving to the Pacific Northwest, settling in Pullman, Washington. His mother worked hard to support the family, while teaching him to help serve and care for others around him.
He grew up in a large apartment community among other young families from all over the globe: Korea, Ethiopia, Poland, China, are just a few of the countries represented by his neighbors. The diversity he experienced in his school system growing up is reflected similarly at Hall-Kent Elementary. Boy Scouts provided additional guidance for him needed while developing into a young man. His arduous 7 year journey resulted in scouting's coveted rank of Eagle Scout!
He attended the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. Andrew ventured back to his roots in the South to pursue his graduate studies, completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at UAB.
Andrew worked as a Physical Therapist at Children’s of Alabama (for nearly 7 years) and is now Senior Physical Therapist at Children's Rehabilitation Service, serving the complex medical needs of children with special needs across the state of Alabama. He and his family are in their 9th year living in and loving West Homewood and want to help continue all the positive progress that has been achieved during his first term on City Council!
While helping raise a bustling young family with wife, Trista, Andrew has been involved in many philanthropic activities most recently including:
